no bull.

Spent a good chunk of the morning getting some music together for some upcoming gigs in the next seven days. Not sure why, but I haven’t played this one in a while and it’s completely outrageous. Here’s the Carribean standard Josefa Matia done in the Colombian bullerengue style (yep, still that country hasn’t yet let go of my ears!)…Colombians don’t mess around with their music! Hope you love it like I do.

<<rwd<< FEB 5 2014: ECLÉCTICA feat. OméDJ and live art by ABBY JANZEN!

Cheers, Family!

We’re checkin’ in to say hello in the middle of us all digging our soles into the earth and steadying ourselves for everything 2014 has begun to bring. Reyes, Glenn and Daniel want to once again thank you and all of our Capricorn friends who celebrated birthdays for making our special opening event at Trópico de Nopal in January so amazing. WHAT A NIGHT!

The first Wednesday of February is fast approaching, so it’s also time to invite you to gather with us back at Eastside Luv Wine Bar for the next ECLÉCTICA! Some special guests from Fresno will be making the trip down the Grapevine to share the magic of their ‘DULCE UP-FRONT’ events. We’re looking forward to a night of new sounds and a return to having live painting in the room. We’d love to see you all again!

dancing in the sun (and snow).

Had my first out-of-town gig of the year back on January 20th (hopefully there will be many more!) and found myself in Park City, Utah during Sundance Film Festival week! It was a whirlwind work trip as I was flown out on Monday afternoon, arrived in Salt Lake City, was driven up to Park City, did the gig and flew back out mid afternoon on Tuesday. It was a fantastic experience playing for the folks at The Spur Bar & Grill on Main Street. Wish I could have stayed at least a few days longer to catch some of the films and maybe snowboard a bit. I’m really bad about taking photos from the deejay booth (note to self: take more photos of the dance floors in 2014!), so below are a few pics from my hotel room, at The Spur and around the grounds…

BIG THANKS to the good folks at Explore Annenberg (, UnjustUS ( and The Spur for inviting me to participate and taking great care with the all the trip details. Please check out the film that they entered into Sundance when it is picked up and released: “The Internet’s Own Boy”…it’s a superb documentary about young internet activist Aaron Swartz, his conflicts with the US Government over internet freedom, and subsequent taking of his own life.
