Among the many fantastic artists on this Saturday’s lineup, these amazing ladies will be working their magic and bringing some serious firepower! I’ll be the one right up front looking super starstruck during their sets. Join me!

For this week’s quotes o’ wisdom, I’ve turned to the director of comedic actor Jim Carrey’s (if you saw last week’s post, see what I did there?) movies, TOM SHADYAC (Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Bruce Almighty, Liar Liar). If you’d like to know more as to why I’ve chosen him, be sure to watch the documentary about his life, career and recent spiritual awakening, titled “I AM.”
“I think true success is intrinsic…It’s love. It’s kindness. It’s community.”
“I hope people start to look at their lives as the most powerful, creative act they will ever offer this world.”
LA JUNTA returns on SUNDAY JUNE 26th with our fourth summer series! We’ll be back at FRONTERAS MEXICAN GRILL & CANTINA, but for only four events instead of the eight that we’ve done each of our last two summers there. Instead, we’re working on producing events on a bigger and better scale! It’s 2016 and the time is now to keep reaching upward and soaring! Here’s the splash flier I created that we debuted on our social media channels today to let everyone know that we’re back soon and we’re looking forward to a fun and colorful summer!
Much love, respect and gratitude to Marjorie Light aka GINGEE for inviting me to be part of what will be a fun and collaborative night of music, art and community this coming Saturday May 21st. It’s the tenth anniversary of the ‘MAGIC GARAGE’ event, presented under the auspices of her SoundPaint collective. Along with deejays such as yours truly, the night offers three separate areas with art exhibitions, live painting, artmaking, live bands and even a community drum circle! I really adore events that come from humble beginnings (this began in Gingee’s family garage) and years later still retain that DIY ethos, with everyone lending a feather to make the event take flight. The event begins at 9pm at The Airliner in Lincoln Heights.
