6:30pm Music ∙ 8:30pm Showtime ∙ FREE!
I’m back this July at Central Park (in Pasadena, CA) for my fifth summer playing dates at the Old Pasadena Summer Cinema. I love doing the opening sets in advance of each film as I see it as a fun challenge to create a set list of tunes that are thematically related in some way. I had a great time playing 80s new wave and pop tunes this past weekend in front of the Pee Wee’s Big Adventure movie. The upcoming film on 7/14 is Mars Attacks!. I’m thinkin’ about going in with a set list of songs about planets and space (minus Gustav Holst’s The Planets).
Though there are films being shown at different locations in the Old Pasadena district throughout the month, I’ll be at Central Park on the corner of Dayton and Raymond on July 7, 14 and 28. Music begins at 6:30 while the films begin at Sunset. Food trucks will be on hand and blankets and picnic items are greatly encouraged.
