So the calendar may say that it’s autumn, but the warm sunshine keeps saying otherwise, right? That’s what we love about our city and why we’re so excited to share the details about our next outdoor shindig. With three amazing events at our beloved Don Chente DTLA and a scary midseason move to do three more fantastic shows at the beautiful Hotel Indigo this summer, we’re ready for one last family gathering–a feet-on-the-ground, backyard boogie style getdown at one of the coolest hidden gems of a venue in all of the city!

I’m eagerly looking forward to being back at Eric Tucker’s ‘Melody LA’ restaurant in Silverlake on Saturday September 22nd, this time with another longtime deejay homie–BABY BUBBA–from Chinatown’s ‘Soul Sessions’ fame and, more recently, from his eclectic mixtape series currently in its fourth volume, Clean Living. While we’ve shared the decks a handful of times in soul, funk, hip-hop or world music contexts, turning yacht rock records will be a first for us and I’m pretty he’s as stoked as I am. Expect all the favorites–Kenny Loggins, Steely Dan, Hall & Oates, Boz Scaggs, Christopher Cross, Ambrosia, Player and the like==mixed in with some deeper and possibly just as cool, smooth and soulful cuts from lesser known artists of the day. Come dine and sip as we sail on wax all evening long. Here’s to easy breezy smooth sailing…hope you can join us.
La Junta’s monthly late night romp, PIÑA, returns to DTLA’s El Dorado Bar on Friday September 14th! Dance your way into Mexican Independence Day weekend with us as deejays degruvme, Yukicito and yours truly, Glenn Red, turn out the finest Afro-Latin, Tropical and Global Rhythms all night long in both the main room and in the Coco Lounge! The event is free for all who are 21 & over, with the bar staff serving up some of the tastiest cocktails in the city. Gather the crew and we’ll see you there!
