music mix | marina soul club 011

Stream on

Cheers, Everyone!  Hopefully after ten of these Marina Soul Club mixes, you’re now following my page on as I’ve fallen way behind on posting them here on the ol’ blog. Sorry about that…things have been bustling over here since late summer, and now, into autumn. I’ve fortunately had a string of graphic design projects, as well as being involved in the creation of some virtual music events and such.

I really love this one though. Mix 011 ventures into territory that lies beyond our normal tours of the 70s and 80s, beginning with San Francisco psychedelic rock band Sopwith Camel and the opening tune Fazon from their 1967 self-titled debut. It’s just so good that I had to include–and start off with–it. Dayton, Ohio soul ensemble Sun then follow with the beautiful (and beautifully titled) Light Of The Universe. Then, about halfway through, mid-80s UK mod revival duo The Style Council make their MSC debut with bossa-tinged groover The Whole Point Of No Return, a tune that along with Al Jarreau‘s cover of Agua de Beber that kicked off Mix 003, foreshadows the appearance of true Brazilian artists that you’ll hear later in Mix 013.

For now, enjoy Number Eleven!
