Looking forward to playing tunes at Viver Brasil’s fundraising event on Saturday June 23rd. I did a lot of design work for them in the first half of this year and now I get to show them my work behind a mixer and turntables. Please visit the EVENT TICKET PAGE for more information.
Viver Brasil is celebrating 21 years with a fundraiser! Guests will enjoy an exclusive live performance by Viver Brasil dancers, authentic Brazilian cuisine, a silent auction featuring local Brazilian artists, and a sneak peek of our upcoming film. There is a suggested donation of $150, however, entry is free. Funds at this event will be used to support our commitment to furthering Afro-Brazilian dance, music, and culture. Join us for a night of music, dancing and fun!
Happy Summer, Familia!
We at La Junta are still riding the good vibes from the last tardeada on Memorial Day weekend, but it’s already time to share the lineup for our next show here on the interwebs! Joining us on SUNDAY JUNE 24…
all the way from Australia:
QVLN (aka Quetzal Guerrero) + special guests, live
and undoubtedly one of LA’s finest deejays/tastemakers
JEREMY SOLE (KCRW, Afro Funké, TheLIFT), deejay set
Woohoo!!! While we’re incredibly excited about our scheduled performers, if you remember our big announcement at the May event, you know that our June show will be simultaneous amazing and bittersweet, as it will be our last at DON CHENTE DTLA, who’ll be closing their doors in mid-July with the sale of the property on which it stands. Yep, that’s right…our final gathering on this particular rooftop (boohoo). Have no fear, though…we’re not going far. We’ll share our new DTLA rooftop location in the coming weeks 😉 For now, gather everyone you know and let’s close the place down right and go out BIG!!!
Join Nature for All for a fun day of beer tasting with local breweries, music, food trucks, and workshops and informational booths from environmental organizations and community groups. Attendees will learn about the work local groups are doing to protect and conserve our San Gabriel Mountains and other local natural resources while enjoying local beers brewed right here in Los Angeles County.
The Nature for All Stewards Group has partnered with local breweries, environmental non-profits, and community groups to host the first San Gabriel Mountains Beer Series this June 30th in Pasadena’s Central Park. Water is arguably the most important ingredient in brewing beer, and breweries in Los Angeles County get part of their water from rivers and streams that originate in the peaks of the San Gabriel’s. Local breweries depend on clean water and have a stake in protecting the San Gabriel Mountains and our watershed, which provide 1⁄3 of LA County’s drinking water.

Coming up this Saturday June 16th from 2pm-7pm, I’m getting together behind the decks with my old buddy RICK WREN for an afternoon of sun-drenched tuneage in Silverlake/East Hollywood. We’ll be on the patio at MELODY ON VIRGIL, a French inspired bistro/wine bar owned by Eric ‘Wizdum’ Tucker, our longtime friend and fellow deejay from the LA underground music community. You may remember him as ‘Wiseacre’, his moniker while hosting the fantastic club and after hours events ‘Funky In The Middle’ and ‘TheLIFT’ (with Jeremy Sole, KCRW). Well, his new restaurant, offering a tasty French-inspired menu along with a highly touted wine list, has been the buzzworthy biz since it opened in late 2017. Stop by this Saturday and let the sun, the tunes and the food hit all the right spots!
