Last Thursday, DJ NEWLIFE breezed into town from the Windy City and inspired the AFRO FUNKÉ dance floor with a bumpin’ set of feelgood rhythms from around the globe. It was one of those love-charged AF nights where all the goodness came about steadily, with the magic being conjured by the confluence of everybody’s positive vibrations throughout the evening. LOVE!
This week, we welcome a staple of LA’s Brazilian event scene for his first time behind the decks at Afro Funke’. Axé!

He wasn’t born in Brazil, Ghana, Jamaica, India or any other foreign land but these places, and many more, were all born into him. His appreciation for global and electronic music has been apparent in his sets ever since he began DJing at the age of 13, and it has lead him on world-wide journeys to gain a deeper understanding behind the cultures from which all of this music originates. As founder and resident of Chicago’s FEx (Foreign Exchange) party, he has gained considerable recognition for his earthquake sounds and having a guaranteed floor filled Saturday night party where the people come out to skank, bollywood, samba, hi-life, break and juke all in one place.
