Whoa! This is probably the earliest I’ve ever promoted out in front of this monthly fourth Saturday event that I do in Long Beach, but for some reason I already have a good feeling about it. I’m back though on Saturday September 28th with fellow resident and recent birthday boy Eusébio Akasa at Mezcalero LBC for the event we call VIVO! Here, we rock many of the finest tunes in cumbia, afrobeat, funk, samba, salsa, hip-hop, reggaeton, afropop, and Caribbean rhythms and more. Come check it out as we get live on the second floor cantina! It’s free and poppin’!
La Junta are excited and extremely honored to serve as the music providers at the pre-concert picnic festivities at the Hollywood Bowl (!!!) in celebration of CAFÉ TACVBA‘s 30-year Anniversary Show! Enjoy a pop-up party with I Love Micheladas; art and fashion vendors curated by Molcajete Dominguero; and music by La Junta LA! Early arrival is greatly encouraged.
About This Performance
It’s impossible to limit what Mexico City’s Café Tacvba do to just one genre. The innovative quartet emerged from the rock en español scene of the ’90s to explore indie rock, electronic music, musique concrète, cumbia, norteña, and more. It all amounts to a thoroughly modern portrait of Mexican music – and an adventurous and viscerally exciting live concert experience that’s made them a sell-out favorite around the world.
Led by Clementine Creevy, LA natives Cherry Glazerr open the evening with a daring set that reflects the emotional growth and vulnerability of this three-piece rock band.

La Junta Sound System returns to El Dorado DTLA this Friday night for the monthly romp we like to call PIÑA. With Yukicito out on a forró dancing expedition to Boston this weekend, degruvme and yours truly get to dig in out in the main room all night while our good friend DJ Ear Jordan brightens up the Coco Lounge with some soulful uptempo sounds.

La Junta Sound System is back in Boyle Heights this Saturday night (and every first Saturday) at Xelas for the thing we call ‘Bump’! The evening’s music includes our irresistible blend of Afro-Latin street party sounds mixed with extra helpings of hip-hop, disco, funky throwbacks, 80s faves and soulful party jams bumpin’ out of a clean and powerful QSC audio system. Come out for some brews and work it away on the dance floor!
