About a week ago, I was hired to do a campaign poster–my first. The colors inset into the California image are those of Uganda. While the office is nothing but a blip on the global political scale, except for a background color swap I was happy to nail the design on the first try. Good luck to the candidate!

Even though we announced that LA JUNTA will be celebrating the 2018 New Year’s Eve by hosting our PIÑA event on Sunday December 31st, the upcoming second Friday of the month falls during this week on DECEMBER 8, meaning it’s our regular PIÑA party! Above is he flier that I created for it last night. When I sent it out to them this morning, the team immediately alerted me that I had made a couple of mistakes on the date. AND I realized that I hadn’t added the signature pineapple in the background. Anyway I love how it turned out! The pink, chocolate, black and bamboo green tones look great together.
Pictured on the flier is the Vietnamese pop group “3 Trái Táo” (The Apples 3, circa 1975).
If you’re anywhere near DTLA this Friday night, definitely stop by El Dorado DTLA! 9pm / Free.

See you there!
Grateful to be back mixin’ at GENERAL LEE’S COCKTAIL HOUSE in the heart of LA’s Chinatown district this Friday November 17! It’s a great spot to both chill after a grueling work week or to jumpstart a fun weekend. The mixologists put together a great list of featured cocktails and its central location between dowtown and the eastside make it a perfect location to meet friends and recount your highs and lows for the week. I might even getcha to boogie a bit 😉 See ya on Friday!

Our final LA JUNTA summer event of 2016 falls on SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 25TH!! And we’re going out BIG with Los Angeles’ new but already beloved Selena tribute band, SELENAMOS! It takes place on the rooftop of our new home, DON CHENTE BAR-GRILL & LOUNGE in DTLA, right across from Staples Center. We’ll be celebrating the 25th anniversary of Selena’s first gold record, which was also the first for any woman in Tejano music!

Here’s one of my latest flier designs, announcing the first LA JUNTA summer event:
LA JUNTA is back for our fourth summer of good music, good people and good times!! While the boys have been gigging steadily as guests at other events, we’ve missed coming together at good ol’ Fronteras Cantina in Alhambra and partying on the patio like we do!
For our summer kickoff, we’ve invited back the first band we ever worked with at La Junta, way back when we were a fledgling event in east Pasadena. The fellas from LA CHAMBA return with their East Los Angeles working class take on the pyschedelic cumbia chicha sounds that originated in Peru. As with all La Junta events, it will be a heavy dancing affair!
The date is SUNDAY JUNE 26th…start breaking in your summer dancing shoes!!

Here are some promo images I did for an upcoming event here in Los Angeles called ‘CULTURE’. It’s my first set of fliers for a house music event. Respect to the talented resident deejays/producers, LA’s DAVID MONTOYA (who actually created the center collage image) and Sao Paolo’s ‘DJ G’ (Edson Luciano Gonzagaga), who both rocked the pristine beaches at last October’s MI CASA ES SU CASA annual holiday excursion in Playa del Carmen, MX. I’ve shared the deejay booth with both artists and can tell you from experience how amazing the music will be. Much love as well to Tamara of UNIVERSAL RHYTHM PRODUCTIONS for putting the branding work under my care. It took a few days to get it right, but it came out cool. I’m lookin’ forward to gettin’ down on their dance floor on February 20th!
