april 19-21 | tropi-cal tour

Hey Everyone!

Be sure to stay off the highways and interstates on the weekend of April 19-21, because La Junta is hittin’ the road!! That’s right, we’re headed north on a zig-zaggy weekend road trip up through Fresno, back down to Ojai and back up and across to San Luis Obispo. Three days, three counties, three cities, three parties and one car, bringing afro-latin, tropical music goodness to some our favorite cities a few hours north of LA. Thanks for our friends from Cumbiatron, ¡Wepa! and Sonido Tropical for the invitations. Here’s the itinerary:

Friday April 19 | 9pm-2am
CUMBIATRON x LA JUNTA
Mezcal Lounge
1310 Van Ness
Fresno, CA 93721

Saturday April 20 | 9pm-Midnight
¡WEPA! x LA JUNTA
Ojai Deer Lodge
2261 Maricopa Hwy
Ojai, CA 93023

Sunday April 21 | 2pm-6pm

San Luis Obispo, CA 93401

Hope to see you at one of the stops!

thursday march 21 | cali quilombo

Exciting News!

Just on the heels of this year’s Carnaval celebrations, La Junta are expanding our musical focus even further south, down to Brazil! On Thursday March 21st at The Office Bar in Lincoln Heights, we’re joining forces with our friends from INTL BLK!!

Chief Boima (founder) recently relocated from Rio de Janeiro to Los Angeles, and wanted to bring some of the inspiring elements of Afro Brazilian culture that he embraced to his new home. So La Junta has teamed up with his record label INTL BLK to present the LA edition of Cali Quilombo, a conceptual series of releases and events that will aim to bridge cultural gaps between Brazil and California.

See you there!

friday march 8 | piña

La Junta’s ‘PIÑA’ party is back this month on Friday March 8th! Our man Yukicito is out of town for this one, currently making a long awaited trip back home to Osaka, Japan, but we’ve got some fine talent coming through to keep the music just as fresh as ever. In the main room, DJ RAW of LA’s Fuego party makes his debut in front of the dance floor at El Dorado DTLA. In the Stowaway Room, aka our ‘Coco Lounge,’ French label boss DJ SEB KRIMI of Radio Krimi Records (Chamonix, Mont Blanc) returns to LA to rock with our crew for his first time. If you remember the remix of the tune ‘Sou’ by the African band WÜIWA that DJ degruvme and I released in February of 2017, you may remember that it was done on the Radio Krimi Records imprint.

As always, our PIÑA event is free so come through ready to boogie!
