Yo, hi! I’m coming back to Ojai! Once again, I’ll be jammin’ at the Ojai Deer Lodge with the good homie DJ Elixir and his longtime deejay amigo, Cali Pachanguero. We’ll be hittin’ the decks with the fun and rhythmic sounds of Latin America, well, because it’s CINCO DE MAYO! So if you’re in town or wanna roll up there and make a weekend out of it, please do come through! ¡WEPA!
Check out the WEPA Facebook Event Page.
Here’s one of my latest flier designs, announcing the first LA JUNTA summer event:
LA JUNTA is back for our fourth summer of good music, good people and good times!! While the boys have been gigging steadily as guests at other events, we’ve missed coming together at good ol’ Fronteras Cantina in Alhambra and partying on the patio like we do!
For our summer kickoff, we’ve invited back the first band we ever worked with at La Junta, way back when we were a fledgling event in east Pasadena. The fellas from LA CHAMBA return with their East Los Angeles working class take on the pyschedelic cumbia chicha sounds that originated in Peru. As with all La Junta events, it will be a heavy dancing affair!
The date is SUNDAY JUNE 26th…start breaking in your summer dancing shoes!!

Just taking a moment to send lots of love and good vibes your way amidst all the goodness and madness of 2012 so far…and, of course, to remind you that the next ECLéCTICA celebration is on SUNDAY FEBRUARY 12TH!! We hope you all enjoyed our last edition with the surprise bellydance/fire-eating show by the talented and beautiful SHAMS the FIRE GODDESS!
True to form, this month we return with another guest whose star is on the rise here in LA, as we welcome DJ ASKARI to join us on the turntables and share a bit of his taste and talent with our familia. Here’s the lowdown:
Askari, which also means “warrior” in Swahili, credits his passion for true Afro-Latin rhythms to his Central American roots. Whether through afrobeat, reggae, latin music, soul, funk, hip-hop or even a touch of electro, Askari’s deejay sets follow the ancestral sounds of Africa and Latin America through their evolution into the music that makes us move today.
Ecléctica takes place every second Sunday of every month at Eastside Luv. This space is not only the coolest spot in Boyle Heights but it makes the best cheladitos and has one of the fattest sound systems around.
