“LA JUNTA,” Spanish for ‘the gathering’ serves as both the widely popular LA brand of outdoor cultural celebrations featuring tropical Afro-Latin music, and as the moniker of the four-person team that produces the series and related deejay/live music events. ‘LJ’ events take guests on a lush and lively musical sojourn across Colombia, Brazil, Peru, Mexico, the Caribbean, Africa, India and through our stateside metropolises, while the seamless blending of rhythms, food, and sunshine consistently conjure big smiles and even bigger dance moves.

Los Angeles DJ/Producer Jose Marquez’s sound is a product of being brought up around Afro-Latin, Caribbean and other World Music at a young age. Always intrigued by electronic sounds as well, Jose’s mission has been to fuse his love of global rhythms with the dance floor. Jose burst onto the scene in 2010 with memorable remixes & edits of artists such as Celia Cruz, Nina Simone, Oumou Sangare and many others. He travels the globe uniting nations on the dance floor with his signature sound and has performed at major events in Paris, Athens, Toronto, Los Angeles, NYC, Melbourne, Nairobi, Morocco, Singapore, Shanghai, Peru, Cuba and most recently in India.
