So the calendar may say that it’s autumn, but the warm sunshine keeps saying otherwise, right? That’s what we love about our city and why we’re so excited to share the details about our next outdoor shindig. With three amazing events at our beloved Don Chente DTLA and a scary midseason move to do three more fantastic shows at the beautiful Hotel Indigo this summer, we’re ready for one last family gathering–a feet-on-the-ground, backyard boogie style getdown at one of the coolest hidden gems of a venue in all of the city!

PIÑA returns tonight, Friday June 8th 2018 to El Dorado DTLA! MUCH LOVE to everyone who came out for our 1 Year Anniversary party in May…it was quite the soiree, with so many familiar faces, new friends and future family. GRATITUDE and RESPECT to the crew from EXPEDITION RADIO–Derrick Ah Sam, Baby Bubba, Plann B. and Mr. Garfield Adams from providing their beautiful, soulful take on music from all over the globe.
TONIGHT, we welcome in the main room, our great friend NuTropic LA and FEx Chicago, DJ NEWLIFE!! In the Coco Lounge, another of our extended deejay family members, DJ REYES Rodriguez from beloved Echo Park venue, Trópico de Nopal. With both these guys on hand, the tropical love will be flowing from all corners of bar and dance floor!

See you tonight!!!
Los Angeles photographer/visual ethnographer Farah Sosa worked her magic once again at last Saturday’s RITO collaboration between my two tribes, Ecléctica and La Junta. Trópico de Nopal loves Farah’s lens and vice versa. Check out this photo of WEST AFRICAN ORISA DANCE GROUP among all the richly colorful set by clicking on the image. THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN, FARAH!!
Please click the image above to see more fantastic photos of the RITO event at her FarahStop blog.
these wonderfully blurry photos testify to the lunacy of last Sunday’s ECLÉCTICA event! from the all-vinyl opening set by Radio Sombra deejay GOMEZ COMES ALIVE, through the deep Middle Eastern and Asian sounds put down by guest selector ARSHIA HAQQANI of the Sublime Frequencies record label, to the 1:30am Soul Train line, it was a lively and spirited night for all who attended and shared their inner joy. who am i kidding…”lively and spirited”? it was downright MADNESS!! 🙂 See you all again on May 13th!
